Established in 1873, Longwood claims the title of the oldest city in Seminole County. This welcoming city is located about 15 miles north of Orlando and provides a reprieve from the big city while still convenient to all that the Orlando Metropolitan area has to offer. Downtown Longwood has a designated historic area where residents are invited to walk along the streets and view local treasures such as the Bradlee-McIntyre House.  The city’s Parks and Recreation department helps keep this a close-knit community with a true hometown feel.  With Longwood’s parks, high-performing schools, professionally designed golf courses and beautiful communities, the area amenities entice residents to make Longwood their home.

Longwood retains its hometown feel through an array of community programs and events.   The city puts on a number of events throughout the year including a Father-Daughter dance, family movie nights and activities for the young and young at heart. During most of the year, residences can enjoy a weekly Farmers’ Market in the quaint downtown historic area.  The city also provides art, dance and exercise classes at the Longwood Community Building.

Longwood residents enjoy the subtropical climate of Central Florida which provides an abundance of opportunities for fun in the Sunshine State.  With an average annual high of 83°F, the Metropolitan Orlando area hosts outdoor activities year round.  The chilliest month is January when the average high is around 70°F.  The warmest months tend to be July and August with average highs of 92°F.  The average annual rainfall for the area is 54 inches which replenishes the areas eco-rich lakes, rivers, and natural wetlands.

Prospective residents have a variety of choices when deciding where to call home in Longwood.  There are a multitude of housing options in the area from convenient condos to planned communities and golf and country clubs.  In June of 2010 there were 83 residential homes sold in the Longwood FL market. The median sales price was $136,250 with the highest priced home selling for $1,075,000 and the lowest priced selling for $23,000.  With so many options, Watson Realty Corp. has the knowledge and resources to help find the right home for you.
